Dr. Karina Bate
Dr Bate is a Clinical Psychologist and Health Psychologist who completed a dual doctorate in Clinical Psychology and Health Psychology at the University of Queensland. She has over 13 years clinical experience and has worked extensively in both private practice and public hospital settings, supervision, consultation-liaison and research.

In her private practice, Dr Bate works with adults and adolescents with a range of psychological concerns including mood disorders (depression, bipolar disorder), anxiety disorders (generalised anxiety, panic, social anxiety), adjustment and coping with significant life events and transitions (e.g. grief, trauma, parenting), emotion dysregulation, personality vulnerabilities and trauma. Dr Bate is highly experienced in the unique area of clinical health psychology and is particularly interested in psychological concerns associated with the management of acute and chronic medical conditions, illnesses, injuries and their management and treatment. She works closely with a range of medical and health professionals to support multidisciplinary care and continuity and uses evidence-based approaches grounded in scientific research.
When not consulting from her private practice, Dr Bate is an Advanced Clinical & Health Psychologist at the Queensland Children’s Hospital where she works alongside the medical and health teams and provides psychological care to children and young people with complex medical presentations. Dr Bate is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology, University of Queensland. Dr Bate holds general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) with endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist and a Health Psychologist. Dr Bate is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and a Fellow of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists, a Member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA), and a Member of the Australian Association of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Ltd (AACBT).
Dr Bate is a Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) approved Supervisor and regularly provides clinical psychology and health psychology supervision to Masters and PhD students undertaking post-graduate qualifications in psychology. Dr Bate also supervises psychology colleagues at the Queensland Children’s Hospital and offers clinical or health psychology supervision from her private practice.
